Pierre Lemieux began his career as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving for 20 years and retiring at the senior rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.  Pierre also worked in the high-tech sector and is a small business owner.  Pierre has a Bachelor of Engineering (Royal Military College), a Master of Science, and is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) and a Project Management Professional (PMP).

Pierre was the Member of Parliament for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell for almost 10 years.  First elected in 2006, he was re-elected in 2008 and again in 2011, serving his constituents diligently until 2015.  When elected in 2006, Pierre broke a 124 year Liberal hold on the Russell half of the riding.

During his time as an MP, the Prime Minister entrusted Pierre with three demanding positions as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministers of Agriculture, Veterans Affairs and Official Languages.  Pierre is fully bilingual.

Pierre was a highly dedicated and effective MP who delivered record amounts in federal funding ($175 Million) to improve the lives of those he represented.  Committed to the communities he served, Pierre was highly respected for his local engagement –  evidenced through his attendance at over 2,000 community events.  He is a strong advocate for farmers, for small business owners, for families, for seniors and for our rural way of life.

Pierre was also a candidate in the recent Conservative National Leadership race and was credited with having run a highly organized and effective campaign whose message on freedom of speech and the importance of conservative values resonated across the country.

Pierre believes that Canada needs Members of Parliament with strong leadership and principles, and who will humbly accept the duty of public service for the common good.  Pierre is guided by the following principles:

  • A belief in the freedom of speech.
  • A belief in Canada’s strong and healthy democracy, one in which all issues can be discussed in a respectful manner.
  • A belief in good and responsible government with representatives who at all times conduct themselves in an ethical manner and who display integrity, honesty and concern for the best interests of Canadians.

Married for 30 years to his wife Audrey, and blessed with five children and two grandchildren, Pierre believes in the sanctity of life from conception through to natural death.
