Mr. Pierre Lemieux (Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, CPC):  

Mr. Speaker,

An issue of great importance in my riding of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell is the Eastern Ontario Development Program which was announced this summer.

The EODP is a 10 million dollar contribution to a program aimed at addressing socio-economic challenges in rural Eastern Ontario. The funding is focused on community economic development, small business growth, and job creation and is vital to sustaining and developing small and medium sized businesses in our riding.

We have worked hard to secure funding for this essential program and in doing so, our government is stating its clear commitment to local industries in Eastern Ontario and specifically in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell.

We recognize the strengths of Eastern Ontario and I can assure the people of my riding I will be working with my colleagues to ensure that progress is made in this area.

I look forward to working with the Prescott-Russell and Glengarry Community Futures Development Corporations and serving my constituents as their member of parliament.
