Hawkesbury, Ontario - On Monday, July 5, 2010, Pierre Lemieux, MP for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell and the Prescott-Russell Community Development Corporation (PRCDC) announced $47 500 in funding for three projects in the Prescott-Russell region. The funding comes from the Eastern Ontario Development program, which is supported by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). “Our government continues to deliver on its commitment made in Canada’s Economic Action Plan to stimulate the economy and create opportunity and growth,” said Mr. Lemieux. “Through John Candie and his team at PRCDC , we are providing better community services, revitalizing critical municipal infrastructure and providing targeted support for businesses and industry sectors to ensure they grow and prosper.” FedDev Ontario was created as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan to support economic and community development, innovation, and economic diversification, with contributions to communities, businesses and non-profit organizations in southern Ontario. “It is important to stipulate that the funds announced today coming from our federal government will contribute to the economic growth of the communities of Prescott-Russell,” stated Mr. Candie, Executive Director of the PRCDC. The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario Community Futures (CF) Program, supports 37 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) - serving rural Eastern and Southern Ontario. CFDCs offer a wide variety of programs and services supporting community economic development and small business growth. “I am pleased to announce funding that will directly benefit the people in our riding,” said Mr. Lemieux. He continued. “Federal funding continues to ensure that the people and businesses in the communities of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell are able to build a stronger future."
