OTTAWA – Federal M.P. for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell Pierre Lemieux took part in the official ground breaking marking the beginning of an important upgrade project for the St-Isidore Arena. The $660,000 investment from the federal government will allow the municipality of La Nation to build two wheelchair accessible locker rooms, to expand its bowling alley and to add a meeting room on the second floor. A new elevator will finally make the second floor accessible to people with limited mobility. “Investments like this one make our rural communities places we are proud to call home. Congratulations to all those who contributed to making this important project a success!” declared Pierre Lemieux. The federal funding dedicated to the St-Isidore Arena upgrades project was granted through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program. This popular program is an integral part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan and supports Canada’s economic recovery through renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities. “By upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructures in communities like St-Isidore, our government shows once more that it is not only committed to the economic recovery but also to the quality of life in our rural communities. Towns and villages that people are proud to call home grow, thrive and stay vibrant. This is good for GPR and good for Canada!” concluded Mr. Lemieux.
