Professional Background
Pierre Lemieux began his career as an Army officer in the Canadian
Forces. He served his country with pride and professionalism for
20 years and retired at the senior rank of Lieute nant-Colonel. After
working as a Project Manager in the high tech sector, he started
his own project management company.
Pierre has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering ( Royal Military College)
and a Masters of Science (Cranfield Institute of Technology, UK). He
has been a Professional Engineer since 1994 and is a certified Project Management
Professional with the Project Management Institute.
On a personal note, Pierre is a certified Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver and is an active competitive shooter with the Canadian Sport Shooting Association.
Federal Politics
In January 2006, Pierre won the federal election
and became a Member of Canada’s 39th Parliament. In doing
so, he broke a 43-year Liberal hold in the Glengarry-Prescott portion
of his riding, and in the Russell portion of his riding, he is the
first Conservative MP elected in 124 years.
Pierre had the great honour of being personally
selected by the Prime Minister to give the
first speech in the 39th Parliament. In the 39 th Parliament,
the Prime Minister chose Pierre to be both the Parliamentary Secretary for Official
Languages and the Deputy Whip for the Government. Pierre also served
as the Chair of the Special Committee on the Canadian Mission in Afghanistan.
In 2008, the Prime Minister asked Pierre to serve as the Parliamentary Secretary
for Agriculture and Agri-Food and after the 2011 election, asked him to continue
in this important role.
Priorities
Living in a bilingual, rural community, Pierre
is committed to farmers, families and seniors and works diligently
to represent their interests in Parliament. He is dedicated
to the promotion of the Franco-Ontarian and Celtic cultures
so present in his riding, and having been a small business
owner, he understands the importance of small-to-medium business
for the riding’s economic well-being.
Having devoted 20 years of his life to the
military, Pierre is fully supportive of doing
what is right for our soldiers. He knows
that our men and women in uniform are among
the finest in the world and that their dedication,
professionalism and courage make them a source
of great pride for Canadians across the country.
Pierre believes in the importance of the family in our society and recognizes
that a healthy nation is built on strong families. Married for over 25 years
and blessed with five children, Pierre fully supports the traditional definition
of marriage as a union between one man and one woman. He believes in the
sanctity of life .

and faith in good government. He
offers experience, honesty, integrity
and principles. As an MP, he is committed to
providing his constituents with leadership that
is accountable and trustworthy. He wants them
to know that he listens, that their views matter
and that he will work hard to ensure that
