Pierre celebrated the 125 Anniversary of Ste-Anne-de-Prescott. Pierre
presented a certificate and a special MP medal to two of the 125 Anniversary
organizers Louis Brunet and Lyse Martineau on
behalf of all of the organizers. 550 people attended the dinner
held on Saturday night.
Pierre participated in the Navan Fair Parade. This
is the 65th anniversary of the Navan Fair.
Pierre helped kick of the 26th edition
of the Wendover Western Music Festival with Mayor Jean-Yves
Lalonde and key festival organizer Joanne Delorme. Pierre
took the opportunity to announce a Heritage Canada grant of $7,900 in
support of the Wendover Western Festival.
Pierre celebrated the opening of the ‘Snack
Shack’, which is located on Highway 34 in Vankleek Hill. He
is seen here with owners Kathy Lebreton (to his left)
and Luc
Papineau (to his right) and some of their employees. The Snack
Shack serves
ice cream treats, delicious imported drinks, body care products from
Israel among other great items.
They also build, sell and operate
chip truck trailers, from which they serve hamburgers, hotdogs, poutines
and other delights! Pierre is seen cooking up his burgers
under the watchful supervision of Kathy Lebreton.Pierre visited Miss Alfred chip stand in Alfred
along with MPP Jean-Marc Lalonde and Mayor Jean-Yves
Lalonde to celebrate
the 40th anniversary of Miss Alfred. Miss Alfred was
started by Marie-Claire Villeneuve in 1970 and has since been handed
on to her daughter Suzanne and her husband Jacques. In honour of
this special occasion, the Villeneuve’s were charging only 25 cents
for a Coke and for an order of fries, which was the price in 1970. MPP
Lalonde and Mayor Lalonde presented certificates and Pierre
presented an MP Medal to the Villeneuve’s in recognition of all
they have accomplished.

Lemieux Announces Funding for the Glengarry

Pierre and Mayor Richard Lalonde attended the wine
tasting press conference hosted by Martine Dion and Bernadette
Sarazin to announce the upcoming Prescott-Russell
Wine and Food Show to be
held at the Outaouais Golf Course in Rockland on October 2, 2010.
Pierre joined MPP Jean Marc Lalonde,
Mayor Jean Yves Lalonde, the Alfred-Plantagenet councillors and staff to celebrate
the beginning of the $9.0 Million water project in Plantagenet. The federal
government and provincial government are each contributing $2.2 Million to
this important project.
Pierre and his wife Audrey joined Prime Minister Stephen Harper for dinner at
24 Sussex during their National Caucus Meetings. The Prime Minister congratulated
Mr and Mrs Lemieux on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary.
Pierre joined MPP Jean Marc Lalonde, Mayor Conrad Lamadeleine and
the councillors
of Casselman for the grand opening of the Paul Emile Levesque
Centre upon the
completion of almost $1 Million in renovations. Pierre and Mr Lalonde had
previously announced a total contributions of over $600,000 from the federal
and the provincial governments in support of this important project. The
Paul Emile Levesque centre is the home of the Casselman Army Cadets, the Casselman
Food Bank, the Club Age d’Or and many other key associations from Casselman.

Chosen to View Afghan Detainee Documents
Pierre has been personally selected by Prime Minister Stephen Harper to be one
of only two Conservative MPs to be part of the important committee that
is reviewing Afghan detainee documents. Tens of thousands of uncensored pages relating to
Canada's handling of Afghan detainees will be examined by the security-cleared
committee of MPs in the upcoming weeks and months.
Pierre joined Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz at the Calgary
Stampede to promote Canadian food products. He is seen here
preparing a breakfast with Canadian Pork Council Chairman Jurgen Preugschas and renowned
chef Jean-Pierre Curtat. The breakfast featured maple-marinated smoked
Canadian pork on a baked potato-sour cream and buckwheat crepe. A total
of 5 different breakfasts were prepared for the international media at the
Stampede using all-Canadian products as a means to encourage them to write
about our excellent Canadian product and talent back in their home countries.
Pierre also took the opportunity to encourage buying Canadian agricultural
products.

Majesty Queen Elizabeth at the Tea Party she hosted at Rideau Hall the evening before
Canada Day.
